[prenuptials & preemptive strikes]

The BBC just put out a story of a preemptive strike that seems to have gone horribly wrong. Just hours before he was to be wed an unarmed man was mowed down by NY police who feared that a gun might be produced by this man or one of his cohorts (likely his wedding party). Have we become a nation of preemptive strikes? What are the implications of this as it becomes more and more a collective mentality? Fear is a powerful motivator and what is so dreadful is that its path is often tragically destructive. What happened to, "Don't fire unless fired upon?"

Perhaps David Bazan says it best, "Ain't it a shame when due process gets in the way of swift justice?"

But then again, the Christmas season is upon us...fear and consumption seem to be cozy bedfellows.
